Families with young children make me happy. I’m not sure if it’s because I myself have young kids and I can relate wholly with their experience as it is at that point in life. Maybe it’s because I remember when I was young and how beautiful and special it is to grow up loving all those around you. I just love photographing beautiful little families such as the one below. They were indeed delightful – two loving parents matched with two beautifully loved children.

Little Miss Tayla is growing by the day. I can’t believe how much she looks and acts like a real little girl – and by that, I don’t mean I thought she looked and acted like a boy, not at all. See, the last two occasions I’ve had the opportunity to photograph this family (when Tayla was all but a newborn and then again at 11 months) she was such a little baby. Now she’s a real little girl. It was obvious by the way she walked and swung those little arms side by side; the way she pursed her lips in a cheeky little grin; and the way she held and cared for her baby ever so.

I really love to watch children grow through my lens. It’s a privilege and when I’m editing sessions I’ll often pull up some portraits form sessions past and compare how far they’ve come. Miss Tayla has come far. She is the sweetest thing.

We also had the pleasure of the company of Tayla’s big twin cousins who wanted in on the action too.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing little Charlotte on her second birthday! She was a bundle of fun as was her little smiley 4 month old brother, Connor. I thought I might have my hands full with such little people but alas, they were perfect little souls – just the way I like them; full of delight and character. Each and every family is fun and unique and it’s always a pleasure to meet them and create some beautiful memories!

I’m a little behind with the old blogging but now to catch up!

I love to turn up at my client’s houses and take delight out of just capturing ‘stuff’…stuff that might not necessarily mean much to you and I but mean everything to them, for they are memories to be cherished. Like the way their kids play; what they play with; who; how they interact; watching them laugh; and of course, just them being them.

These little boys (twins – if you hadn’t figured it out) were a blast. They had me in fits of giggles with their “garbage bins” on the backs of their cars. Their imaginations were wild and just as wild were their ability to ride their little scooters full pelt! There were a few stacks along the way but nothing that phased these two little guys. You can tell they are much loved little lads, that’s for sure! They had me on my toes but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When you make your way all the way from London to have a nice holiday in Australia, on the Gold Coast no less, you don’t expect the weather to end up dark, cloudy and rainy, for one day let alone pretty much your whole holiday! Who would have thought that sunny Queensland wouldn’t play nice? And on a day when you want photos of the gorgeous sun, sand and surf no less.

Well, as it turns out last weekend was nothing on what this week has been – rain, rain and more rain. So, in the end things turned out for the best – by best I mean showers and cloud and not torrential downpours. Despite the fact the sun didn’t want to play, the kids still had fun – they frolicked; they laughed; and they got wet – seriously, what’s not to love about that!

As parents there isn’t much we wouldn’t do to help our kids…most would go to the ends of the earth if the need arose. Most would agree that you indeed live a lucky life if there is never a need for you to reach out for those ends, in order to protect your children. That’s what makes the parents of these children special. They will do anything for their children and the sad part is, they have already had to go beyond where you or I will ever need to.

Little James, nearly 6, is suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an insidious gender-linked (in 99% of cases) muscle-wasting disease that leaves little boys (and in some cases, girls) unable to walk before they make their teenage years. As there is no cure, Duchenne results in premature death by late teens/early adulthood in 100% of cases. You can read more about James’ story and his parents, Julian and Sharryn’s, quest to find a cure for their little boy here and here. Perhaps if you see fit, you can lend a helping hand.

James, Charlyse (nearly 5), Saraya (2 years) and Patrick (6 months) were just the most wonderful children to photograph. I know I say that all the time (and it’s always true) but they really were. So full of smiles, spirit and fun – just the way I like them!

Generally, it’s hard with a session encompassing four children to go light on in the blog department and of course thats no different in this case. I offer no apologies!

Sweet Charlotte {Brisbane Family Photographer}

Little Charlotte, all two and half years of her, is one sweet kid with an ever so sweet dimple! I count myself lucky to have been able to capture her vibrant little personality, along with that of her family. You can tell just how much she is loved and how much joy she brings.

She was a real little crack up, oozing personality as these portraits will attest…

This is the third time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing these sweet little girls. Miss Stella was just over 1 the first time I photographed her and now she has just turned three. She is definitely the character amongst the girls. Miss Eliza has grown so much since I photographed her as a tini tiny newborn; now a toddler through and through. And, the eldest little miss Sophie. Sigh. She’s such a delight. A precious little thing. It really is so much fun capturing them as they grow.

They came dressed in their little tutus and as always were such a pleasure to shoot.

Two year old twin girls and a three month old would seem like a bit of a handful (and I’m sure there are times when this is so) but for me they were delightful – a dream. The only real challenge was getting some shots of them together. We did however manage to get there in the end – literally.

These girls were wide eyed and beautiful.

And because I just couldn’t decide which one of these photos I liked best…

These beautiful children are brother and sister. Polar opposites but equally as beautiful.

Baxter had the most amazing eyes. The light just bounced its way around. Bella, was just the sweetest, sweetest peach, so full of joy.

I loved photographing these two cherubs.
