Blake Winter {Brisbane Newborn Photographer}

As a general rule I prefer to photograph babies under 10 days of age. They tend to be more sleepy, curly and complying. That’s not to say there aren’t exceptions to the rule, because there is always an exception! Little Miss Blake is one of them. She was 3 weeks and 1 day old at our session. She slept beautifully for a good portion of the session; had the cutest round face and the most amazing head of hair (loving all the gorgeous hair of late).

Blake’s parents wanted more classic, simple portraits – no props; hats or other bits and pieces. Here are some of my favourites from her session.

Day 30 {Brisbane Children’s Photographer}

We headed out for a princess party this afternoon to celebrate the 4th birthday of little Ella. Lily dressed as Snow White…heals and crown mandatory (according to her).

I just wanted a quick snap, for my photo of the day, and the following conversation ensued:

Me: “Go and stand over there for me please Lily”
Lily: “Here?”
Me: “Yes please. Ok look at me and smile”
Lily: “Like this?”
Me: “Maybe just act a bit natural…be a princess”
Lily: “Like this…?”
Me:  Click. Click. Click. Click “Ok. We’re all finished now”

Lily…3 years 11 months. Born to be a princess.

Day 23 {Brisbane Children’s Photographer}

In two short months he’ll be turning seven. I have no idea where the years went. I have sat watching Willow hoping to see glimpses of Byron in her. I’ve tried really hard to remember him so small, but alas, the memories are fleeting. People will say it goes by in a blink of an eye but until you have children, all you have to go on is your own childhood. I don’t know about anyone else, but I look back at my childhood years and think it actually went by at a nice, steady pace. When I think of being a kid, I think of long days and a million years until Christmas or a birthday rolls around.  I don’t know if its the times we live in, but to me now, life just goes…and goes. I hope for the sake of my own children, that life slows down; that the time clock freezes for a few minutes a day. I want them to enjoy childhood and the freedom and innocence that goes along with it for as long as they can.

My boy is 7 soon and I wonder, these days, how much longer he’ll have left to enjoy freedom and innocence that you only get in those childhood years.
