This photo a day challenge, is where I embark on the epic, personal journey to take one photograph every day for the month of January, of the things that are important to me.
Sometimes, when I’m photographing beautiful families, as I did today, Trevor will come for a drive to keep me company and to get the children out of the house. He and the kids will go off and do their own thing while I do my thing. This afternoon, prior to the arrival of the family I was to photograph in an urban setting, I seized the opportunity to take some portraits of Byron. See, I snap a lot of Lily – she’s easy. Willow – well she’s not easy. She used to be but she’s not now. Not. At. All. So I don’t bother too much with her these days. I’m sure I will again when she’s more complying. Byron however, seems to miss out. I didn’t even find the time to take his 7 year portraits. So to remedy the situation, I made it my mission to snap some of his handsomeness. And gosh he’s handsome. I can say that proudly, since I’m his mum and, well, that’s a mother’s right without judgement.
I thought I’d push my luck – just a smudge – and try my hand at a sibling shot where I could. I didn’t have too much success – Willow, having just learned to walk, makes it her mission to walk right out of the shot. Straight. Away. She won’t hold hands. She won’t sit on laps. She won’t let Byron pick her up. She just won’t. Miss stubborn. Well, it just so happens, that she wasn’t quite fast enough in the one of two frames I managed to capture with all three.
And not to forget the handsomeness of my little guy. He’s just growing bigger by the second.
