Friday’s Favourites {Brisbane Photographer}

Life is busy, and everyone is feeling it. The days just roll into weeks and the weeks into months. I can’t help feeling that time is traveling so much quicker then it did five years ago, but I know it’s not. Rather, I’ve come to the conclusion the days are just fuller. As I grow older, my obligations seem greater – with three kids, a husband, a household and a mountain of work to boot, there is always something occupying my mind; a distraction to the present. I’m trying to live life for the now, but it’s hard. Life can be hard. The obligations to your children, your friends or your client’s are ever present.

Yes there are days I struggle with the now, always looking to the future or  thinking about the past. But, to my defence, there are days when I make it my mission to spend a moment within moments. These are the days when I breathe the smell of a freshly washed toddler  knowing there isn’t a smell more beautiful in the world, or listen unnoticed to sounds of a sweet little girl talking endlessly to herself and realise this will not last forever. My heart will skip a beat when my boy walks past and tenderly leans in to give his youngest sister a kiss because I know there will come a time when the kiss will turn into a kick. Life is made up of many moments – hundreds a day. Some worthy of forgetting but many worthy of notice. Life  is full of extravagance…we want the very best of everything because somehow that’s what life has become; there are stresses to achieve and deadlines to meet and there is no getting away from this, but sometimes the simple things, and the simple moments make it all worth it.

It was my birthday on Monday just past – another year older; another year wiser as they say. The reasons for my thoughts of life comes from feeling as though I celebrated a birthday last month and where in the world did the past 12 months go. Now, I didn’t have any extravagant party and that’s just fine with me.  I celebrated with a little afternoon tea, the day before, with four perfect little people and someone who I can now officially call my best friend for more then half my life.

Life was good that afternoon. We sang, we ate cake, and we laughed. I can honestly say I lived that moment and I hope to live many more like it.
