This photo a day challenge, is where I embark on the epic, personal journey to take one photograph every day for the month of January, of the things that are important to me.
There are some memories that will last a lifetime, you know the ones initiated by a smell; a sound; a tradition. Most often they are simple experiences – just the day to day stuff which at the time might not seem significant. It’s only down the track, years passed, when it will dawn just how important they are to your existence. The way your mum repeatedly kissed you in fast succession randomly through out the day; the late afternoons you would sit on the trampoline with your little brother, in July, wondering what Santa was doing, or the little sister who would tag along behind you screaming out “Kids! Kids wait for me“. They are what keeps our heart beating and what makes us love that little bit stronger.
I have so many beautiful memories of being a kid, but there are some memories which don’t exist at all – that of a Grandma taking me swimming or out for Strawberry milk every Wednesday. Or a Nanna who secretly gave me jelly beans for breakfast just before she dropped me off to school on a Monday. Whilst I don’t have these beautiful images dancing through my mind, I consider myself lucky; Lucky because I know, with all my heart, that my children will.
How truly blessed are they to have so many that love them like I do…
