  • Welcome…

    Thanks for visiting! So a blog you ask? Yep. I'm a blogger from way back. I simply can't do without one so it goes without saying that I have to have one solely dedicated to my love of photography! Here's insight into the reason behind my love of photography in case you're wondering as people often do. Aside from an outlet for my creative juices I guess what I love most about photography is the moment it freezes in time. Literally, a moment captured that otherwise could never be relived. A moment in time...Forever frozen...

    A smirk. A smile. A frown. A tear. A kiss. A cuddle. Laughter. Life.

    Make sure you drop by from time to time. You'll see my latest news (including products and specials), some neat session previews, information about custom photography and it goes with out saying, you'll also see lots of photos of my children because, shucks, I just love them so much and can't help but snap them constantly!

    Before I go...always remember, don't-ever-forget the simple things and the memories they create.

Day 23 {Brisbane Photographer}

This photo a day challenge, is where I embark on the epic, personal journey to take one photograph every day for the month of January, of the things that are important to me.

I spotted it out of the corner of my eye. “Oh! Oh! Hold that thought!” I yelled as I grabbed my camera and ran over to the swings.

It was the sweetest of sweet things I had seen today. They were just hanging around apparently. Looking at the world ‘all upside down’ because that’s what you do when you swing on the swings. Duh! It was all Willow’s idea of course.

To see the world through the eyes of a three year old is such a privilege. I only wish it was me swinging right there beside her. I could do with an upside down perspective of things right now. Next time perhaps.

Make sure you put my hair on the side mum.
Why do I always have to put it on the side?
Because that’s how it looks the prettiest!”

Since when did she become so conscious of the way she looks; of the clothes she wears; of her hairstyles? How does a six year old know what ‘pretty’ is anyway? She often gets upset, and quite easily, if she doesn’t look the way she wants to be. I try to tell her she is amazing. Every day. I want her to know that she is beyond beautiful… my eyes’ picture of perfection. I truly want her to believe it but sometimes my words just aren’t enough.

I don’t want her to worry about body image, or fitting in. I want so badly for her to grow up feeling perfectly perfect in her own skin. I want her to know that beauty is always in the eye of the beholder and far more reaching than the skin’s surface.

I hope with all my heart that her quest to find her inner beauty is not a struggle; that she is comfortable in her own skin. Isn’t that what every mother wants for their daughter?

He loves fiercely and deeply this boy. He’s curious and passionate, opinionated and vocal. But most of all he’s sensitive. And that is the quality I love most about him. Because without sensitivity you cannot be compassionate. Nor can you be respectful.

He will do great things. He will change the world. I know. I can feel it with all of my being.

I love this boy. So. Much. Best of all, he loves me right on back and as fierce as ever. I know, because he tells me often.
